DR Jessica Walsh

I am a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years of experience working in NHS and third sector organisations in primary and secondary care settings. I completed my Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of East London. I currently work in an NHS adult community learning disabilities team, where I support adults with diagnosed learning disabilities and their networks of support.

I hold the belief that we all have challenges and difficulties that occur in life. Sometimes we may need a bit of extra help with managing these difficulties and in finding solutions to difficulties that arise. I find it a privilege to be witness to the life stories that people may bring to therapy. I am a warm, calm, non-judgemental and open person and place great importance on building a safe and collaborative therapeutic space where exploration of any difficulties can take place.

I have experience working with people presenting with a range of psychological difficulties, including; anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, phobias, sleep difficulties, anger, low self-esteem and relationship difficulties. I also have experience working with neurodivergence, including autism and ADHD and aim to practice in a neurodivergent affirming way.

I offer an integrative approach, which involves working together to find out which approach fits best for each person. I draw on a range of therapeutic models, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), systemic and attachment informed approaches. During sessions there will be space for you to reflect upon and build on your strengths and resources at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
