DR SAMANTHA HARRIS
I am a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years of experience working in NHS adult and child mental health services, including in-patient wards, community teams and primary care. I completed my Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of East London. My clinical training and experience have inspired me to understand psychological distress as an understandable human response to adversity and our lived experiences. I currently work as a senior psychologist in a specialist NHS mental health service for adults. I have also completed a Post graduate diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) at Kings College London and have a great deal of experience working with people presenting with a wide range of psychological difficulties and my specialisms include anxiety, depression, mood difficulties, trauma, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties and stress.
I offer an integrative approach drawing on a range of therapeutic models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Narrative Therapy (NT) and Systemic and attachment informed approaches. I have a special interest in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and the impact of self criticism and shame on psychological wellbeing.
I aim to provide a warm, genuine, non-judgemental and safe space to explore your difficulties and enable you to make meaningful change. I strongly believe in the value of making sense of our current circumstances in the context of our life experiences. I hope to enable clients to explore their personal resources and build on their existing resilience and self-knowledge. I endeavour to work creatively and collaboratively to ensure therapy is tailored to your individual preferences, needs and goals.
